Myself, I think one reason was to show "Nothing is impossible with God.". For instance, what about the broken friendship that seemed impossible to heal? What about the cancer death in 2 months? What about the completed death where when push comes to shove, you just don't really believe in heaven?
All of those things are stuff that torment humans and Jesus came '..to destroy the works of the devil.".
