And I don't think 2nd hand smoke is a good thing but laws can go overboard, but I don't think people should smoke around minors.

Typically, you get that from either smoking or through an occupation like coal mining.
Back when I was coal mining, I was being treated for it. After I quit the mines, it was determined that I had an allergy to coal dust, as the COPD symptoms went away.
Real COPD doesn't go away; it gets worse over time.
