Why There is No Audience For Poetry

I love poetry and I used to write quite a lot a decade ago. There is a website AllPoetry i think, but I am no longer going there because people can easily use ChatGPT to make a poem..

Yeah, they need to warn people about the AI. They need separate sites for AI.

No matter how much you warn them, people will always break the rule in order to win. It is hard nowadays to see what is AI and what isn't.

It's very shameful to lie about this stuff, and this only stuff for fun, not even like an academic paper.

So what's going on in people's heads?

Poetry is still written, poets are celebrated, their works are appreciated but the general people aren't reading poetry. The only poetry form that is popular is song. However, these days songs do not have good meaning as they used to be in the past. The lyrics are risque and the songs do not convey good meaning

Some artists are certainly using meaningful lyrics for their songs and they are hiring poetry to write songs, but most people aren't.

Poetry was essential reading in my language classes in school. However, I never took any interest in reading poetry, I started reading poetry only after publishing my own poetry collection
