It might gain a huge following because it seems macho, comforting or something, but some might not agree with it. Why is that?

Many people argue that Stoicism leads to suppression of emotions. This is one of the biggest arguments against stoicism. Stoicism can help you handle emotions, but critics say that a stoic may become emotionless at some point because they start caring less by the passage of time.

It's a mixed bag, but some people can pull off humane Stoicism.

I have just started studying stoicism. So far, I have not found anything problematic about it. In fact, it is a kind of philosophy that makes it cool. It can help you deal with many things such as breakup, failed marriages, and other scenarios that could kead to emotional problems.

Stoicism is a fundamental way of thinking which is, by nature, complimentary to any other paths your thoughts logically follow to settle into a logically sound modicum of accumulated wisdom. Spirituality in any form is enhanced by the stoic state of mind. One of the key facets echoed by philosophers is that you ultimately control how you feel about your thoughts, and so you control how you react to impulses from your environment. Whether this "you" is you in the literal sense, as electrical signals in the brain, or the Holy Spirit re-awakening within us to tame our animal instincts, is not at all necessary to specify - the truth that we decide our very next action at any given moment is unavoidable. Therefore, it becomes impossible to blame others for our own misfortune, which is a massive burden off our shoulders, no longer having anyone to blame for our poor conditions, and we can work on improving our lives and move on to help those around us, as you would feel inspired to do, among other free quality-of-life upgrades you might discover while thinking like a Stoic. I also joined this forum to lurk for an unrelated reason and now I have shared this post.

If we see things will work out later, as Christianity teaches, it gives us a useful Stoic outlook

I studied Stoicism in depth, not those popular books which are trendy now or listening to some podcasts where wanna be stoics simply earn money on quoting original texts. Here is the thing, stoicism is not for everyone and it shouldn't be. It is a philosophy of life, a framework on which one go through life. Stoics simply call out humans to pay attention what is our nature and by them, it is reason. Humans are creatures of reason so why not use it?

I can't write in one post all of the things I know and it is not on my to try and convince you to accept this philosophy because x,y,z. You can accept things from it in your own philosophy of life. Virtues Stoic practice:

Wisdom - ability to see things as they are, what is good and what is bad, what is moral and what isn't, etc.
Courage - ability to practice virtues no matter how unpleasent the situation is. It is easy to be moral person when you are not tested but can hold that moral standard in a situation many people would fold? It takes courage.
Temperance - being moderate in things. Not being swayed by Earthly pleasures. You may enjoy wine, but it doesn't mean you should overdrink it.
Justice - ability to see others as equal to you and not be too harsh because all people make mistakes. "Judge" them fairly as you would judge yourself.

There is much unfair suffering, for instance, children dying from abuse, that it's hard to be sane without a Stoic outlook.

Stoics never claimed that life is fair. Epictetus many times confirmed that life is hard and that we cannot expect the world to change just so that we can have an easy life, that is not how the universe works. Sure, one can practice Stoicism and really be good at enduring hardships but there are extremes which no sane man can endure. We all have our breaking point, some event which we just can't endure.

Well, I never even assumed that. Obviously stoics are the first to say "Life is a tough biscuit".

But my point was that stoic mindset can help you deal with a massively unfair existence.
